Faheem Abdullah

Faheem Abdullah is an Indian singer-songwriter, composer and musician from Srinagar, Kashmir. Born on 29 September 1997, he is known for creating music influenced by Kashmiri culture, poetry, love and personal experiences.

Faheem grew up surrounded by different forms of music. Kashmiri folk traditions, Sufi influences, Indian and Pakistani music, poetry and literature all contributed to the development of his musical identity.

Before achieving mainstream recognition, Faheem established himself in the independent music scene. His songs often combine contemporary production with poetic songwriting and influences from his Kashmiri roots.

He gained wider recognition with songs such as Ishq and later made his Hindi cinema debut with the title song of Saiyaara, which brought his voice and music to a much larger audience.

Faheem Abdullah began formally creating music around 2019 and released his first single, Jhelum, in 2020. The song helped introduce his distinctive songwriting and musical approach to listeners in Kashmir and beyond.

His independent career continued with songs exploring love, longing, identity and his relationship with Kashmir. In 2024, he released his debut album Lost;Found, a 14-track project featuring collaborations with several musicians from Kashmir.

The album included Ishq, created with Rauhan Malik and featuring poetry by Amir Ameer. The song became a major breakthrough for Faheem and introduced his music to a wider Indian audience.

In 2025, Faheem made his Hindi cinema debut as the singer and co-composer of the Saiyaara title song. He composed the track alongside Tanishk Bagchi and Arslan Nizami, while Irshad Kamil contributed the lyrics.

The success of Saiyaara marked an important transition in Faheem Abdullah’s career, taking him from India’s independent music scene into mainstream Hindi film music while retaining the emotional and poetic qualities associated with his earlier work.

Faheem Abdullah’s music draws from indie folk, pop, rock, ghazal, Sufi influences and Kashmiri musical traditions. Rather than limiting himself to one genre, he uses different musical styles to express the emotions and stories behind individual songs.

Kashmir plays an important role in his artistic identity. His songwriting frequently explores themes of love, separation, longing, memory and belonging, while poetry remains an important influence on his creative process.

Faheem performs and writes across languages including Kashmiri, Urdu and English, allowing his music to combine his regional identity with contemporary independent and mainstream sounds.
