Anurag Saikia

Anurag Saikia is an Indian music composer, music director, producer and instrumentalist from Assam. He is known for composing music for Hindi and Assamese films, web series and independent music projects.

Born in Moran, Assam, Anurag grew up in a musical environment. His exposure to Assamese folk traditions, Indian and Western classical music and film scores played an important role in developing his musical style.

He later studied music at the Swarnabhoomi Academy of Music in Chennai and gained experience in the Assamese music industry before establishing himself in Mumbai.

Anurag has subsequently worked on popular films and streaming series, becoming particularly recognised for his music associated with Panchayat, Mismatched, Karwaan and Article 15.

Anurag Saikia’s professional music career developed through Assamese music before expanding into Hindi films and web series. His early work included the Assamese album Tup Tup, released in 2009.

After moving to Mumbai, he began working on film songs, background scores and original soundtracks. His credits include projects such as Karwaan, Mulk, Article 15, Anek and the popular streaming series Panchayat.

His work for digital entertainment has also brought him a wider audience. Songs and compositions associated with Mismatched, including Aise Kyun and Ishq Hai, became notable entries in his catalogue.

Alongside film and series music, Anurag continues to work on independent releases and projects influenced by Assamese musical traditions.

Anurag Saikia’s musical style combines elements of Indian and Western classical music, Assamese and North-East Indian folk traditions, contemporary film music and modern independent music.

His background in different musical traditions allows him to work across romantic songs, acoustic compositions, background scores, folk-influenced music and contemporary soundtracks.

His compositions often use melodic arrangements and instrumentation that complement the story and emotional setting of films and web series.

Anurag Saikia received significant recognition early in his career when he won a National Film Award for his music direction for the Assamese non-feature film Yugadrashta.

He has subsequently received recognition for several Assamese and Hindi music projects. His work has helped establish him as a composer capable of moving between regional music, mainstream cinema, streaming entertainment and independent releases.
