Pappu Karki

Pappu Karki was a respected Uttarakhandi folk singer associated with Kumaoni music. He developed an interest in music during childhood and reportedly began singing folk songs and learning Nyoli at around five years of age. He performed at village events, school programmes, fairs, and Ramleela performances.
His first recorded song, “Fauji Ki Naukri Ma,” was recorded in 1998 with his mentor and senior singer Krishna Singh Karki. He later became known for bringing Kumaoni folk music to wider audiences through albums, live performances, and regional music recordings.

Pappu Karki’s early career included work with regional cassette and music companies. His notable projects included:
