Sonu Nigam is one of India’s most celebrated and versatile playback singers, often referred to as the “Modern Rafi” for his ability to sing in a wide range of styles and genres. Born on July 30, 1973, in Faridabad, Haryana, Sonu began his musical journey at a very young age, inspired by his father, Agam Kumar Nigam, who was a singer himself.
Sonu Nigam made his playback singing debut in 1992 with the song “O Aasman Wale” from the film “Aaja Meri Gaadi Mein Baith Ja”. However, his breakthrough came in 1999 with the song “Sandese Aate Hain” from the film “Border”, which earned him widespread acclaim and established him as a leading playback singer in Bollywood.
